Obverse description Personification of Augusta Vindelicorum seated facing on an ornate throne, draped in classical robes, holding a large pine cone (the city's heraldic symbol) in her outstretched left hand and an upright lance in her right hand. The figure is flanked by elaborate foliate scrollwork cartouche elements. The Roman numeral date MDCXXIV appears within a rectangular cartouche set at the base of the throne in the exergue. The circular legend surrounding the inner rope border reads AVGVSTA VINDELICORVM.
