| 正面描述 | Central field displays the enthroned figure of Saint John the Evangelist, patron saint of Lübeck, depicted facing left and seated within a decorative cartouche, holding a book and raising his right hand in a gesture of blessing; an eagle, his traditional attribute, appears beside him to the right. The city arms of Lübeck — a crowned double-headed eagle — are incorporated into the composition. A beaded inner border separates the central design from the outer legend. The circumferential Latin legend reads MONETA. NOVA. LVBECENS. with the date 1596 appearing at the top of the field. |

| 背面描述 | Central field displays the Imperial double-headed eagle of the Holy Roman Empire, displayed with wings spread, each head surmounted by a crown, and an orb bearing a cross on the breast; the eagle holds a sceptre and orb in its talons. A single imperial crown surmounts the entire composition above the two heads. The design is executed in the vigorous late Renaissance hammered style typical of north German Thaler coinage of the period. The circumferential Latin legend around the beaded border reads RVDOLPHVS. II. D. G. IMP. SE. AVGVS(TV)., identifying the reigning Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II. |
