Obverse description Central field displays the arms of the City of Bremen — a crowned key on a cross-hatched shield — supported by two rampant lions, the date 1568 inscribed in the field between them. A circular countermark depicting a crowned lion rampant is visible at the lower center of the shield area. The entire device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin legend MONETA NOVA REIPVB BREMENSIS running along the outer border, divided by small ornamental stops. The rope-milled edge is visible at the coin's periphery, characteristic of hammered Reichsthaler coinage of the period.

Reverse description Central field bears the Imperial double-headed eagle of the Holy Roman Empire, displayed with wings spread and each head crowned, supporting an orb on its breast. A sceptre and orb are depicted in the talons, and the breast shield carries the imperial orb device. The bold Latin legend MAXIMILIANVS II ROMANO IMPE runs along the outer border, divided by small ornamental stops, referencing Emperor Maximilian II as sovereign overlord under whose authority the city issued this thaler. The design is executed in the characteristic hammered style of mid-sixteenth-century German municipal coinage, with a rope-milled border encircling the entire reverse.
