| 表面の説明 | Central field occupied by an ornately shaped, elongated shield bearing the arms of the city of Kaufbeuren — a divided escutcheon displaying a griffin passant to the left in the dexter half and a diagonal band with stars in the sinister half — flanked by elaborate foliate and scroll mantling. The date 1547 is divided by the shield, with 15 to the left and 47 to the right. A continuous circular Latin legend surrounds the whole composition, reading from the lower left. |

Kaufbeuren was a Free Imperial City in Swabia, and its right to strike thalers was a jealously guarded privilege — one that put small civic mints in direct tension with larger territorial authorities throughout the sixteenth century. The 1547 issue falls in the same year Charles V crushed the Schmalkaldic League at Mühlberg, a defeat that forced many Protestant Imperial Cities, Kaufbeuren among them, into political submission and the humiliating Augsburg Interim the following year.
The Dav GT I#9352 attribution places this firmly within the German Taler series catalogued by Davenport's earliest volume. Nau#80b suggests a minor variant distinction within the local sequence.
