Reverse description Half-length portrait of Emperor Charles V facing right, crowned and clad in elaborate armour, holding an imperial sceptre raised over his right shoulder. The figure is rendered in the bold, high-relief style characteristic of early sixteenth-century German hammered coinage. The imperial legend encircles the effigy in a continuous Latin inscription within the outer border.
