| Obverse description | Central field features the arms of Kaufbeuren: a divided shield displaying an eagle to the left and a six-pointed star above a smaller star to the right, surmounted by an imperial eagle and set within an ornate foliate cartouche. The date 15-41 is divided across the lower half of the shield, flanked by the cartouche supports. A beaded inner circle frames the shield, with the Latin civic legend running around the outer border. The overall style is characteristic of South German Renaissance hammered coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. |
