The circumferential Latin legend reads MONETA. NOVA. CIVITATIS. CAMPIDONEN., with the date incorporated at the conclusion of the legend. The design reflects the heraldic conventions of the Holy Roman Empire, with fine detail in the crown and eagle plumage characteristic of early sixteenth-century hammered coinage. |
