| Mô tả mặt sau | Full-length standing figure of Saint Theonestus (Santo Teonesto), patron saint of Masserano, depicted facing forward in bishop's vestments and holding a palm frond in his right hand and what appears to be a model of a church or tower in his left, within an inner beaded border. The saint's robes are rendered with fine linear drapery typical of hammered Renaissance coinage from northern Italian mints. The surrounding legend reads SANTVS TEONESTVS MAR, identifying the martyr saint with abbreviated title, separated by pellet stops. The composition follows the established iconographic tradition of civic patron saints on Italian testone coinage of the sixteenth century. |
