| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the elaborate papal coat of arms of Innocent XI (Benedetto Odescalchi), featuring a shield divided per fess: the upper half charged with a displayed eagle, and the lower half bearing three horizontal bars with doves or similar charges, all rendered in high Baroque relief. The escutcheon is surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys, with ornate acanthus and rope mantling flanking the shield on both sides. The Latin legend encircles the design along the periphery, reading clockwise from the upper right, separated by pellets. |
