| Reverse description | The entire reverse field is occupied by a large Baroque cartouche formed by elaborately scrolled and curling strapwork ornaments, within which the papal motto is inscribed in four lines of bold Roman capital lettering: MELIVS / EST·DARE / QVAM / ACCIPERE. The cartouche is framed by volute scrolls at the upper and lower extremities, rendered in high relief against a smooth field, all enclosed within the milled border characteristic of the Roman mint coinage of this period. |
