背面描述 The reverse displays a large, crudely rendered biscione (the Visconti serpent device), the heraldic emblem of the Sforza duchy of Milan, struck in low and somewhat worn relief typical of hastily produced siege coinage. The design is largely unadorned, with the serpent motif occupying the majority of the flat, irregular field. The surface shows characteristic hammered texture and planchet irregularities consistent with emergency wartime production. No legend or additional devices are present, reinforcing the coin's status as a purely functional emergency issue.

附加信息

The Siege of Pavia (1524–25) was one of the defining confrontations of the Italian Wars, pitting Francis I of France against the combined forces of Charles V. Milan, caught directly in the path of the conflict, issued emergency coinage under Francesco II Sforza as a practical necessity — the city needed to pay troops and maintain basic commerce while surrounded by competing armies. These siege issues are historically distinct from regular mint production and were struck under duress rather than as ceremonial currency.

Francesco II was the last Sforza duke, his hold on Milan precarious throughout his reign and dependent almost entirely on Habsburg support. The battle itself, fought in February 1525, ended with the capture of Francis I.
