Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate papal coat of arms of Clement XII (Lorenzo Corsini), depicting a shield bearing diagonal barry wavy lines in the Corsini heraldic tradition, surmounted by the papal tiara and flanked by the crossed keys of Saint Peter — one gold and one silver — bound with a cord. The shield is further adorned with foliate and scroll mantling. The circumscribed Latin legend reads CLEM·XII P·M·AN·VI·, identifying the pontiff as Clement XII, Pontifex Maximus, in the sixth year of his reign. The milled border frames the design with a pronounced bead or reed pattern.
