Clement XII is better remembered for commissioning the Trevi Fountain than for monetary policy, but his reign produced a sustained program of road and infrastructure improvement across the Papal States that this coin directly commemorates. The legend references the restoration of road networks — a genuine administrative priority, not ceremonial flattery.
He was also blind for the last decade of his pontificate, governing largely through his nephew Cardinal Neri Corsini.
