Obverse description The elaborate papal coat of arms of Clement XI occupies the central field, displayed on an ornate baroque cartouche with rich acanthus scrollwork. The shield bears the Albani family device — a six-pointed star over a stylized fortified hill — surmounted by the papal tiara and the crossed keys of Saint Peter. The engraver's initials E·H· (Ermenegildo Hamerani) appear at the base of the cartouche. The circular legend surrounding the design reads CLEMENS XI P M A VII, identifying the pontiff and his seventh regnal year. The coin's milled edge is visible, and the overall execution reflects the refined high-Baroque style characteristic of the Rome mint under Hamerani.
