| Obverse description | Elaborate baroque papal coat of arms of Clement XI displayed on an ornate cartouche decorated with scrollwork and tied cords, surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys. The shield bears the Albani family device. The circular Latin legend around the periphery reads CLEMENS XI P M AN XVII, with decorative star stops separating the words. The coin exhibits fine milled edging and a broad, flat field characteristic of Roman papal coinage of the early eighteenth century. |
