Obverse description A crowned eagle displayed with wings spread and head turned sinister, depicted within two thin concentric circles forming the inner border. The field carries the Latin legend identifying the issuer as Giovanni Bartolomeo Tizzone, Count of Desana and Imperial Vicar, disposed around the periphery. The heraldic eagle serves as the dynastic device of the Tizzone lords of Desana. The hammered fabric imparts an irregular flan characteristic of early sixteenth-century Italian coinage.
