1 Teston - Henri II

Henri II of Orléans-Longueville became ruler of Neuchâtel in 1595 and governed the small Alpine principality for over half a century, but his teston coinage was struck relatively late in that tenure. The 1631 date places this piece squarely within the Thirty Years' War, during which Neuchâtel's position as a nominally sovereign francophone principality under French cultural orbit made its coinage politically significant beyond its modest size.

The Froidevaux reference T24 indicates this as a documented variety within a small series — Neuchâtel's output was never prolific, and surviving testons from Henri II's reign appear infrequently in Swiss regional auction records.
