Reverse description The reverse is entirely occupied by a multiline Arabic-script legend in Nastaliq calligraphy, stating the mint formula 'Zarb fi Maqarr al-Khilafa Khoqand' (Struck in the Seat of the Caliphate, Khoqand), with the AH date 1279 below. The inscription is arranged in sweeping diagonal bands across the field, framed by a prominent pellet-and-bead border. The deeply struck, bold letterforms are set against a flat, unadorned field consistent with the hammered coinage tradition of the Khoqand Khanate. The irregular flan edge and slight die shift are characteristic of hand-struck issues from this mint.
