| Obverse description | Central pellet surrounded by a radiating sun motif with multiple rays extending toward the coin's periphery, rendered in a stylized Islamic artistic tradition. The design closely follows Fatimid tari prototypes, with the radiate pattern filling the entire field. The irregular flan is characteristic of hammered coinage. Pseudo-Kufic decorative elements appear in the border area, reflecting the multicultural numismatic tradition of Norman Sicily. |
