Two right hands clasped in a handshake — the traditional symbol of Fides (Faith or Pledge) — are depicted prominently in the central field, executed in low relief characteristic of hammered copper coinage. The date 1570 appears above the clasped hands in the upper field, with the denomination mark T and numeral 1 flanking a small star in the lower field. The entire design is encircled by a beaded inner border, within which runs the Latin motto legend. |
