The legend contains the Islamic profession of faith (shahada) and/or additional titles and epithets associated with the issuing ruler, consistent with standard Qarluq tanka coinage of the mid-10th century AH. The epigraphy is boldly struck but shows characteristic provincial irregularity in letter formation and spacing. No mint name or date is discernible in the field.
