| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is entirely occupied by a multi-line Arabic inscription in bold Naskh script, filling the field without an inner circle. The legend reads the royal titles of Sultan Sikandar Shah ibn Ilyas Shah, identifying him as a warrior in the path of the Merciful (al-mujahid fi sabil al-rahman). The inscription is arranged in four or five horizontal lines across the flan, with the mint name Iqlim Muazzamabad and the regnal year appearing in the lower portion of the field. The die-engraving is characteristic of Bengal Sultanate hammered coinage, with bold, slightly compressed letterforms filling the available space. The coin edge is irregular, typical of hand-struck medieval Islamic tankas. |
