Obverse description Central field dominated by a bold calligraphic inscription within a square cartouche, bearing the Shahada in Arabic script: the declaration of faith rendered in angular, deeply struck Naskh lettering. The marginal legend in Nagari script encircles the square frame, recording the name of the ruler Sher Shah and the regnal year (949 AH). The overall design follows the established Indo-Muslim epigraphic tradition, with the field showing the characteristic irregular flan surface typical of hammered coinage of the Sur period.
