The field shows the characteristic uneven surface of a hammered strike, with natural flow lines and die-sink irregularities visible around the legend. No decorative border or inner circle is present, consistent with the utilitarian style of mid-sixteenth-century Gujarat billon tankas. |

Qutb-ud-Din Bahadur Shah ruled Gujarat at its political peak, successfully repelling Mughal incursions under Babur in the late 1520s before eventually being killed in a confrontation with the Portuguese at Diu in 1537. His reign saw Gujarat maintain genuine independence while the Mughal empire was still consolidating — a narrowing window that makes his coinage the last issued by a fully sovereign Gujarat sultanate before the region's eventual absorption under Akbar decades later.
