Reverse description Entire field occupied by a two-line Arabic inscription in bold, angular Naskh script, reading 'Mahmud Shah' in reference to Sultan Mahmud Shah I of Gujarat. The legend is contained within a roughly rectangular border formed by two parallel horizontal lines, a design feature characteristic of Gujarat Sultanate copper tankas. The strokes are thick and deeply struck, though with some weakness typical of hammered copper issues. The flan is irregularly shaped and the surfaces show the characteristic roughness of circulated copper coinage of the period.
