| Obverse description | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a multi-line Arabic inscription in bold, deeply struck Naskh script, arranged within a plain circular border. The legend reads the royal titles and name of Sultan Nasir al-Din Mahmud Shah I of Gujarat. The lettering is bold and angular, characteristic of the hammered coinage of the Gujarat Sultanate, with the text distributed across three registers filling the flan. The surface shows green patination consistent with aged copper, and the strike is typical of the irregular hand-hammered technique employed at the Gujarat mint. |
