| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is entirely occupied by Arabic script in two registers: a marginal legend encircling the coin reads 'dar takhtgah daulatabad sal bar hafsad-si-do' (Struck at the royal seat of Daulatabad in the year [7]32), while the central field bears the Quranic phrase 'Man ata al-sultan faqad ata al-Rahman' (He who obeys the Sultan has obeyed the Merciful One). The lettering is executed in a bold, somewhat cursive Naskh hand typical of Tughluq-period bronzes, with the legends filling the entire flan in a dense, overlapping arrangement characteristic of hammered copper issues of the Delhi Sultanate. |
