| Beschrijving keerzijde | The central field carries the name and titles of the sultan, Muhammad bin Tughlaq Shah, inscribed in Arabic script, accompanied by the honorific epithet al-mujahid fi sabil allah (the warrior in the path of God). Surrounding the central legend, the names of the four Rightly Guided Caliphs (Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali) are arranged in the margin, a common feature of Delhi Sultanate coinage asserting Sunni orthodoxy. The inscriptions are rendered in a bold, slightly cursive Arabic hand consistent with Tughlaq-period practice. A beaded or linear border separates the central field from the marginal legend. |
