Obverse description Entire field occupied by multi-line Arabic calligraphic legend in bold relief, struck on an irregular flan typical of hammered coinage. A circular central medallion containing the regnal name or key phrase is prominently positioned at center, surrounded by further inscriptions arranged in horizontal registers filling the upper, lower, left, and right margins. The script is rendered in a confident, angular hand characteristic of Bengal Sultanate coinage of the early sixteenth century. Legends give the name and titles of Sultan Ghiyath al-Din Mahmud.
