Reverse description A patriarchal (double-barred) cross with a small crosslet at its apex occupies the centre of a raised inner circle, its long shaft extending toward the base where two six-pointed stars flank the foot of the cross. The composition is contained within a raised circular border, beyond which a wide marginal legend in Armenian script reads [ՇԻՆ]ԵԱԼ Ի ՔԱՂԱՔՍ Ի ՍԻՍ (Struck in the city of Sis), the mint city of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia. The overall type reflects the strong ecclesiastical character of Cilician Armenian coinage under Leo I.
