1 Tanga - Pedro Prince Goa mint

Pedro II ruled Portugal as regent from 1668 before formally assuming the throne in 1683 following the forced abdication of his brother Afonso VI, whom he had effectively deposed and kept imprisoned until death. This tanga was struck across that entire transitional period at Goa, the administrative heart of Estado da India, where the mint operated under chronic pressure from both bullion shortages and competition with locally circulating foreign silver. The Goa mint's output during Pedro's regency years was frequently irregular in flan preparation, which accounts for the edge irregularities and off-center strikes commonly encountered on this type.
