| Obverse description | Crowned Portuguese royal arms at center, the shield displaying quartered coat of arms with an inescutcheon, surmounted by a royal crown. The mint letters A and M appear in the left and right fields respectively, flanking the arms. The field is decorated with mullets (star-shaped ornaments) arranged around the periphery of the design. The letters A-M denote the Malaca (Malacca) mint attribution, though it is noted that the correct arrangement should read M-A for Malaca. |
