Additional information

Philip III of Spain (Philip II of Portugal) never set foot in India, yet his monetary authority extended to Goa's mint throughout his reign. The tanga was the workhorse denomination of Portuguese India's silver coinage, and issues of this period circulated well beyond Goa — the "to Malaca" designation reflects official remittance coinage shipped east to supply Malacca's garrison and trading economy, a regular practice given the chronic shortage of small silver on the Malay peninsula.

Gomes F3 09.01 places this squarely within the Filipe III series, a relatively short window between 1621 and his death in 1629.
