Obverse description Central field displays the crowned Portuguese royal arms within a shield, featuring the characteristic quinas (five escutcheons arranged in a cross) and the bordure of castles, surmounted by an open royal crown rendered in relief. The shield is flanked on either side by partial decorative elements, with the mint mark letters A and M (denoting Malacca attribution) visible to the left and right of the crowned arms. The coin is struck on an irregularly shaped flan with a beaded border running along the upper periphery, typical of hammered coinage produced at the Goa mint during the reign of Filipe III of Portugal.
