| Reverse description | A large interlaced TA monogram, representing 'Tanga', occupies the central field, with a cross superimposed at the center of the design. Below the monogram, the letters 'D' and 'S' flank the four-digit date, rendered in a bold, simple style characteristic of Portuguese colonial hammered coinage. The whole is enclosed within a partial beaded border. The flan is irregular and hand-struck, consistent with mid-17th century colonial mint production. |
