Obverse description Hairpin-shaped copper ingot of larin form, struck flat and folded, with each parallel leg bearing a hammered stamp comprising a sword and wreath device — the civic arms of Batavia. The impressions are applied individually to each limb of the folded strip, resulting in two mirror-facing stampings. The surface exhibits the characteristic irregular texture of hammered primitive coinage.
