Additional information

Samoa's commemorative program of the mid-to-late 1970s leaned heavily on American subjects, a reflection of the islands' geographic proximity to and economic ties with the United States. Lindbergh's 1927 New York–to–Paris flight had a specific Pacific dimension: his successful crossing accelerated serious planning for trans-Pacific air routes, and Pan American Airways used his fame and technical input to survey the very corridors that would eventually connect Samoa to the wider world.

The .925 proof issue runs parallel to a standard-metal circulation strike — KM#26 without the 'a' suffix — making the silver version a deliberate collector piece rather than a monetary one from the outset.
