Bundi's copper coinage of this period is unusual in that it continued to attribute issues to the reigning Maharao rather than defaulting entirely to Victoria's name — a gesture of local dynastic pride that many other Rajput states abandoned more quickly under British pressure. Ram Singh II ruled Bundi from 1821 to 1889, meaning issues struck after his death would have carried a name belonging to a man already gone. The date range on these pieces almost certainly extends posthumously into Madhav Singh's reign without a corresponding update to the dies.
