Ram Singh II ruled Bundi under increasingly uncomfortable British oversight — the Princely State system formalized by the East India Company meant his coinage authority was politically tolerated rather than fully sovereign. Bundi's copper issues from this reign circulated alongside Company coinage in a region where neither entirely displaced the other.
The takka denomination was a workhorse of local bazaar exchange, not tributary to any imperial standard but pegged loosely to regional custom. Bundi's mint output during this period was modest and irregular, which accounts for the considerable variation in flan preparation and strike quality seen across surviving pieces.
