The FAO designation links this issue to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's long-running coinage program, through which member nations struck circulating pieces carrying agricultural themes as a form of soft development messaging — Bangladesh participated repeatedly across multiple denominations. By the time this stainless steel variant entered production in 2001, the program had been running for over three decades, and the commemorative framing had become largely nominal for most issuing countries.
