1 Taka

The Bangladesh Post Office — not Bangladesh Bank — served as issuer for the lowest denomination taka notes, a division of responsibility rooted in the colonial practice of separating postal currency from central bank obligations. This arrangement meant the 1 Taka note fell under the Ministry of Finance rather than the banking system, a bureaucratic distinction that persists to this day and occasionally confuses collectors unfamiliar with South Asian postal order traditions.

Security printing for this series was handled domestically by the Security Printing Press in Gazipur, one of the few South Asian countries to have brought low-denomination note production fully in-house by the early 1990s.
