Reverse description The reverse field is filled with sixteen Chinese characters arranged in a four-column, four-row grid, deeply engraved in the same formal script as the obverse. The inscription reads from right to left and top to bottom: 朱源裕監 傾曹平寶 重壹示銀 匠萬全造, meaning 'Supervised by Chow Yuen Yu, assayed at exact Tael weight of pure silver, made by silversmith Wan Ch'uan.' This side records the administrative and artisanal provenance of the piece, consistent with Shanghai private mint practice of the mid-nineteenth century. The surface exhibits matching iridescent toning to the obverse, with no border ornamentation beyond the raised rim.
