| Obverse description | Hammered gold flan bearing a multi-line Arabic legend filling the central field, arranged in horizontal registers and surrounded by a beaded inner border. The inscription reads the sultan's name, patronymic, and honorific, identifying him as Sultan Mehmed bin Ibrahim Khan with the invocation 'May he be victorious.' The mint name Tunis and the Islamic regnal year appear in the lower register. The overall presentation is characteristic of Ottoman-style hammered sultani coinage struck in North Africa, with bold calligraphic strokes in the Thuluth style. |
