Obverse description Densely packed Arabic calligraphic legend filling the entire field in multiple interlocking lines, executed in the Ottoman tughra-influenced script style typical of Algerian regency coinage. The inscription, rendered in relief against a flat ground, occupies the full flan with no border separating legend from edge. The irregular coin flan, characteristic of hammered gold coinage of this period, is bordered by a faint beaded or dotted rim. The calligraphy flows in an ornate, overlapping fashion consistent with early 17th-century North African Islamic monetary art.
