Reverse description Central vignette of Christopher Columbus's three caravels — Santa María, La Pinta, and La Niña — under sail on the open sea, rendered in detailed intaglio engraving. The denomination numeral '1' appears in guilloche medallions at both sides and in the lower corners of the note. The bank title is displayed across the upper portion within an ornate border frame.
