Obverse description The Ecuadorian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting an oval shield surmounted by a condor with wings displayed. The shield features a solar disc rising over Mount Chimborazo with a steamship navigating the river at its base, flanked by four national flags and framed by laurel and palm branches tied at the base with a fasces. The circular legend REPUBLICA DEL ECUADOR arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin characters. The date appears in the lower field beneath the shield. A continuous beaded border frames the entire design.
