| Obverse description | Plain field bearing the inscription CURACAO in an arc across the upper portion of the coin, with the date 1822 displayed prominently in the centre in large numerals separated by two small circular ornaments flanking the digits. A horizontal rule divides the date from the lower field, beneath which a small five-pointed star is centred near the bottom. The coin is struck with a beaded border running the full circumference. The design is purely typographic, with no effigy or heraldic device, reflecting the utilitarian character of this Dutch colonial billon issue. |
