(Translation: New Money of the Republic of Nijmegen 1 Stiver)
Reverse description A long cross with fleur-de-lis terminals at each arm occupies the full field, with a small lion-bearing shield at the centre intersection. The cross arms divide a quadrilobe inner frame, which is itself enclosed within a beaded circle. The Latin devotional legend runs in the outer border between the beaded circle and the coin's edge. The design follows the standard late sixteenth- to early seventeenth-century Dutch municipal stuiver type, executed in the hammered technique with characteristic irregular flan edges.
