Obverse description Within a raised inner circle, the crowned rampant lion of Jülich-Berg is depicted facing left in high relief, its tail curled upward. A large ornate crown surmounts the inner circle at the top of the field. The peripheral legend, reading in Latin, encircles the design between the inner circle and the coin's milled edge, separated by a beaded border.
