Obverse description Crowned six-fold arms of Cleves occupying the central field, with the denomination numerals I and S flanking the shield on either side. The composite heraldic shield displays the quartered coats of arms of the joint rulers, surmounted by an elaborate crown. The circular Latin legend NVMMVS.CLIVENSIS. runs along the periphery. Struck at the free town of Emmerich during the period of Dutch occupation of Cleves in the Thirty Years' War.
